1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,

ascribe to the Lordglory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the Lordthe glory due to his name;

worship the Lordin the splendour of hisholiness.

3 The voice of the Lordis over the waters;

the God of glory thunders,

the Lordthunders over the mighty waters.

4 The voice of the Lordis powerful;

the voice of the Lordis majestic.

5 The voice of the Lordbreaks the cedars;

the Lordbreaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,

Sirionlike a young wild ox.

7 The voice of the Lordstrikes

with flashes of lightning.

8 The voice of the Lordshakes the desert;

the Lordshakes the Desert of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lordtwists the oaks

and strips the forests bare.

And in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’

10 The Lordsits enthroned over the flood;

the Lordis enthroned as King for ever.

11 The Lordgives strength to his people;

the Lordblesses his people with peace.
